My research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, with a particular interest in cognitive resilience. I investigate why certain individuals are able to maintain cognitive function despite the accumulation of Alzheimer’s disease–related amyloid and tau pathology, with a specific focus on the interplay between amyloid and tau. Our research has shown that enhanced microglial activity and reduced tau seeding around amyloid plaques may contribute to cognitive resilience, providing insights into mechanisms that may protect against cognitive decline.
