My research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and Parkinson’s disease. I investigate how dysfunction of the autophagy-lysosomal system contributes to the accumulation of disease-associated proteins and neuronal dysfunction. Using human iPSC-derived neuronal models, advanced imaging, and cellular and molecular approaches, my current work aims to define early mechanisms of lysosomal failure that precede protein aggregation and identify potential therapeutic strategies to restore cellular clearance pathways.
