Studies mechanisms of brain-endothelial and blood-brain-barrier dysfunction in aging and Alzheimer's disease, with particular emphasis on APOE4 signaling. Uses in vitro barrier systems, in vivo functional assays, pharmacology, mathematical modeling, and drug-discovery approaches to identify therapeutic strategies that protect the neurovascular unit.
