Studies how environmental contaminants (such as particulate matter and heavy metals) contribute to Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis. Uses transgenic models, cell culture, organotypic tissue, and human brain samples to study the gene x environmental interactions and to determine key neurotoxic mechanisms leading to neuroinflammation, synapse loss and neurodegeneration.
