New Vision Research Hosts Book Launch and Scientific Symposium Honoring Alzheimer’s Research Pioneer Peter Davies
New York, New York, May 27, 2026 – New Vision Research brought together leaders in Alzheimer’s disease research, longtime colleagues, family members, and friends of the late Peter Davies on May 27, 2026, for an evening of remembrance, scientific reflection, and celebration at The New York Academy of Medicine. The occasion marked the launch of Labs and Labyrinths, a new book honoring the life and enduring scientific legacy of one of the field’s most influential voices.
Published with support from New Vision Research, Labs and Labyrinths traces Dr. Davies’ scientific journey, his role as a mentor, and his lasting influence on Alzheimer’s disease research. The book captures both his landmark contributions to the field and the collaborative spirit that defined his career – a spirit that continues to drive progress today.
The symposium featured keynote addresses by Melissa Murray, Ph.D., of the Mayo Clinic, and Benjamin Wolozin, Ph.D., of Boston University, both of whom built upon the foundational antibodies Dr. Davies so generously shared with the broader scientific community throughout his career.
“His contributions to science are immense. Peter set the path to the first medications used to treat Alzheimer’s disease, identified the first antibodies characterizing the disease pathology, and went on to become a mentor and muse to scientists across the field. He was a researcher who asked poignant questions – and met every challenge with a delightful, joyful laugh.” — Benjamin Wolozin, Professor, Boston University
“We wanted this evening to celebrate Peter’s remarkable scientific legacy while also capturing the warmth, curiosity, humor, and mentorship that made him such an unforgettable presence in the Alzheimer’s community. The response from attendees and colleagues was incredibly moving.” — Joseph Helpern, Executive Director, New Vision Research
The launch event reflects New Vision Research’s ongoing commitment to preserving the history of Alzheimer’s research while advancing scientific collaboration, education, and innovation across the dementia research community.
