Dr. Fryer received his BS in microbiology at the University of Arizona before joining the lab of Dr. David Hotlzman, MD, at Washington University in St. Louis. There he studied mechanisms of amyloid formation in parenchyma and cerebral vessels in mouse models. After completing his Ph.D. in 2005, he moved on to a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Huda Zohgbi, MD at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
In Dr. Zoghbi’s lab he studied mechanisms of neurodegeneration in spinocerebellar ataxia. In the fall of 2011, he started his lab in the Department of Neuroscience at Mayo Clinic in Florida.
